- Imsung Hahn was born and raised in South Korea, traditionally called Sun Rising of East Calm
Morning Country.
- The artist graduated from Seoul National Education University, Department of Art Education.
- She is presently a member of the Mi Woo Association, the Yeomyung Association, and has won
several honors, including "The Grand Exhibition of Korean Art Association (National Museum of
Contemporary Art).
- After being married, Imsung left her beloved South Korea and moved to Jacksonville, Florida in
the United States. With the palm trees, the beaches and the ocean at her fingertips, she has a
new avenue to pursue her creative talents.
- A believer in and lover of God, she has been committed since youth to drawing forth in her work
the passions and emotions of images remembered and treasured since childhood.
- She accepts the responsibility to lift the art viewer's spirits, encouraging morality and invoking
the peace of the Holy Spirit.
- The artist also portrays the harshness of a sometimes God-less world in rendering works of a
rabbit hutch and a chicken coop, remembering from her youth that the large, strong rabbit
devoured the young, weak one. In the same way, she sees the largest, strongest nations
overpowering the weak.
- As a matter of course, materials and objects are essential for the artist's work. When colors,
shapes and textures combine in the artist's expression and are shared, the result is shared values
and appreciation of the art.
- Im Sung Hahn has been diligently experimenting with various materials and techniques for over
30 years, explaining on canvas the simple and intimate textures and materials which surround us.
- A scene of a glistening greenhouse...a flower garden bursting with colorful blossoms...
the quaint beauty of local folkways...lyrical landscapes...a weathered wooden rabbit hutch...
these are Imsung's reflections of the gifts she has received and shares with her patrons and
fans.
